Claire T. Griffin

CLAIRE T. GRIFFIN 1927 � 2017 SOUTHWICK- Claire (Mercier) Griffin passed away on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017 just three days after her 90th birthday. She was born in Holyoke on May 26, 1927 a daughter of the late Joseph and Lumina (Dubois) Mercier and was educated in Holyoke Schools. Claire resided in Chicopee most of her life before moving to Southwick in 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Michael W. Griffin on November 13, 1997. Claire was primarily a homemaker and loved caring for her children, grandchildren and extended family members. She worked for several years at Pratt & Austin and enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and was a woman of great faith and strength. She was a communicant of St. Peter & Casimir Parish in Westfield and previously at St. Mary�s Chicopee. She leaves behind her daughter, Kathleen Banks of Granby, MA; her son, Michael W. Griffin, Jr and his wife Irene of Feeding Hills; four adored grandchildren, Sean Welch of Chicopee; Ian, Nicholas and Ryan Griffin all of Feeding Hills as well as Memere�s four great grandchildren, Devin and Peyton Griffin and Summer and Phoenix Griffin. Claire was predeceased by eight siblings: Rene, Walter, Adrien �Babe�, Armand, Raymond, Florette, Annette and Rita. She is survived by her brother, Roland Mercier of Belchertown and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Claire will also be missed by her companion, Vincent Pernice of Southwick who shared in many memories of Claire�s life journey. Visiting hours will be Friday morning from 8:15-10:15AM June 2, 2017 at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. Her Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11AM in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, So. Hadley.
