Holyoke – Clarie Louise (Couture) Barnes, 82, lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, at Mont Marie Rehabilitation Center in Holyoke.

Claire was born in Holyoke on July 3, 1943, to Theodore and Alice (Bessette) Couture. She attended Holyoke schools and was employed for many years as a Machine Helper for Kamket Corporation, until her retirement.

Claire was a wonderful mother and homemaker, raising her four children in Holyoke.

She always enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, James Barnes and his husband, Shane Heckethorn, Tammy Barnes, Lisa Barnes, all of Holyoke and Timmy Barnes of Easthampton; her two sisters, Yvette Guiel of Holyoke and Viola Benoit of Wilbraham; seven grandchildren, Joel and spouse Caitlin, Mathew, Joshua and spouse Jodi, Jules, Amber and spouse Kevin, Jessica, and Jamie; seven great-grandchildren, Bodi, Aviana, Emma, A’Ryah, Rhea, Juliana, and Jacob; and several nieces and nephews, including Debra Lambert.

A period of visitation will be held for Claire on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4 – 6 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, followed by a service at 6 PM in the funeral home.
