Charles James Nichols

Charles J. Nichols 1920-2010 CHICOPEE � Charles J. Nichols, 89, of Chicopee, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Born in Holyoke and a Chicopee resident for most of his life, Charles was a retired (34) year employee for the former Uniroyal Tire Co. Charles loved animals, especially dogs, enjoyed walks in his neighborhood and socializing with his neighbors. He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude (Cote) Nichols in 2006. He leaves his son, Charles J. Nichols, Jr. of Chicopee and a grandson, Ronald Nichols of Agawam. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
