Chicopee – Mrs. Catherine A. “Cathy” (Roda) Romanowicz, a lifelong Chicopee resident, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 25, 2009.  She was born in Holyoke on August 11, 1943, a daughter of the late Natale F. and Corinne (Brisson) Roda.  She attended local schools and was previously employed for many years as a manager at the former Fairlanes Bowling Lanes of Chicopee.  She will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was everyone’s mother and would help anyone that she could.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and bowling in her “spare” time with her husband Michael for over twenty years.  She was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia and always said that “Mickey makes me smile”.  She is survived by her beloved husband of forty seven years, Michael Romanowicz, one son, Michael of Sheffield, MA, two daughters, Corinne Buchanan and her husband Gary of Chicopee, and Frances Nicholas of Putnam, CT.  She also leaves three brothers, Frank Roda of Holyoke, Thomas Roda of Agawam, and Paul Roda of Chicopee, two sisters, Antoinette LaFleur, and Mary Roy, both of Chicopee.  She will be sadly missed and always remembered by eight grandchildren, Sarah, Robert, Joann, Jessica, Billy, Jennifer, Calvin, Benjamin, three great grandchildren K’dynce, Jacob, Damien, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Joann Romanowicz, daughter in law Bridget Romanowicz, and three brothers, Anthony, John, and James.  Funeral services are Wednesday, September 30 at 10am from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:15am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, on St. Anthony St., both in the Willimansett section of Chicopee.  Burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday, September 29 from 4 – 8pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine’s memory may be directed to Noble VNA and Hospice, 77 Mill St., Westfield, MA 01085.  Please visit www.brunellefuneralhome.com for directions and an online guestbook.
