Barbara Edna (Lauffenburger) Galindo, 88, longtime Chicopee resident and beloved wife of Alphonzo Galindo who predeceased her in 2006, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Holyoke Medical Center.
Barbara was born on January 7, 1937, in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of Ernest and Edna (Marra) Lauffenburger.
She was raised and educated in Huntington and was a graduate of Trade High School.
In her younger years, she worked as a medical assistant until her marriage to Al in 1962 and started her true calling the next year when she became a mom.
Barbara was a former parishioner of the former St. Mary’s Church in Chicopee.
She loved going to the theater with her husband and family, especially The Majestic.
Barbara also enjoyed ceramics, baking bread and cooking for her family, but most of all she enjoyed the time she shared with her grandchildren and all the children she was fortunate enough to care for.
She had a big heart and she was generous with her time and donated to many charities.
Barbara leaves behind her loving children, Thomas Galindo and his wife, Barbara, Kimberly Wolf all of Chicopee, Kenneth Galindo and his wife, Kimberly of Ludlow, and Teresa “Tess” Spear and her husband, Robert of Chicopee, sisters, Irene Rosick and her husband, Ted of Clinton, CT and Paula Huot and her husband, Art of Tampa, FL, nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Jennifer, Cameron, Daniel, Colin, Natalie, Isabella, and Colby, five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Geoffroy, Nathan, Emma, and, Thomas.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Ernest Lauffenburger.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., for calling hours for Barbara from 4 PM-6:30 PM, followed by service at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
Committal prayers and burial for Barbara will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, donate.cancer.org. For online condolences please visit
