Armand J. Fredette
1918 – 2009
CHICOPEE – Armand J. “Choo-Choo” Fredette, 90, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in St. Alexandre, Province of Quebec, Canada on January 8, 1918, to the late Aime and Aglae (Choiniere) Fredette. Armand attended schools in Chicopee and was a parishioner of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Mr. Fredette served our country in the United States Army during WWII and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the military, he attained the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. After being discharged from the Army, Armand worked for the former Chicopee Manufacturing Co. for twenty-six years and then worked for the former Moore Drop Forge Co. for twenty years, before retiring. He was a member of the former Rangers Athletic Club in Chicopee. Armand was an Avid Red Sox fan and was proud to have been born the year that they won their first World Series. Choo-Choo will sadly be missed by his wife of sixty-two years, Patricia A. (Parenteau) of Chicopee; his daughter, Carol A. Vallee and her husband Bruce of Bristol, CT; his three grandsons; his two great-grandsons and his great granddaughter. Armand was predeceased by his two brothers and his four sisters. A funeral procession will form on Friday, January 9, at 7:45 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 8 at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions, may be made in Armand’s memory, to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 780 Chicopee St, Chicopee, MA, 01013.
