Anthony Kwadwo Brooks

February 17, 1975 — May 20, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Anthony Kwadwo Brooks, a man whose kindness and unwavering compassion touched the lives of all who knew him.
Anthony, affectionately known as “Tony”, was born on February 17, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York, but spent most of his life in Chicopee and Holyoke, Massachusetts. His brilliance emerged early, and he was deemed gifted by the age of eight. And Tony brought energy and passion to the stage in school plays while his creativity flourished through a natural talent for performance.
His love for music was also undeniable—especially R&B—and his musical talent extended to playing the guitar. This gift was lovingly passed down to his son, Romeo Brooks, who, like his father, is musically inclined, mastering the saxophone, guitar, and piano. He cherished nostalgia, always reminiscing about the vibrant energy of the 90s, finding joy in the music, movies, and culture of the era that shaped his youth.
Tony’s care and compassion weren’t just qualities; they were a force in his life, recognized even at the highest levels when he was honored by Governor Mitt Romney for his humanitarianism. His career began at Belchertown State School—a place that became more than just a workplace, but a family affair, as he worked alongside his mother, father, and brother, Kofi. This experience paved the way for his later service as an EMT, where he dedicated himself to helping others throughout Holyoke County.
But Tony’s kindness extended far beyond his career—it was in the way he truly saw people. Whether in moments of joy or hardship, he had a way of making others feel valued, heard, and appreciated. His gentle spirit, unwavering patience, and deep compassion allowed him to reach people when others could not. Even in the presence of those whose minds had begun to fade, Anthony had the ability to awaken something in them, inviting warmth and familiarity where confusion once lingered.
His enthusiasm was contagious, his knowledge impressive, and he was the person who always showed up—not with grand gestures, but with sincerity and heart. A check-in call, an encouraging text, a thoughtful compliment—these were Tony’s ways of saying, "I got you."
Tony adored his family. He shared a deep, unbreakable bond with his father, Herbert Brooks, and was endlessly supported by his mother, Ellie. Her unwavering encouragement carried him through every milestone, offering him strength and guidance throughout his life. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual admiration.
Tony is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, whose wisdom and love helped shape his life: Beulah Brooks, “Romeo” Buster Daniels, and Aldonia "Mema" Daniels. He leaves behind his cherished son, Romeo; his adoring mother, Eleanor Brooks; his father, Herbert Brooks (Winona); his loving siblings, Kenyea Knicole Brooks, Kofi Lamont Brooks, Christine Brooks, Jeffrey Brooks, and Christina Wilson; his devoted aunt and uncle, Hermenia and Bill Grayson; and his closest cousin, William Fulcher.
His circle of love extended far beyond family. Among those who remained steadfast in his life were Nikki and CeeJay Wallace, whose unwavering support and love helped shape Romeo’s upbringing in a remarkable co-parenting bond. They were more than just family; they were a true team.
Tony also had his "modern-day Rat Pack"—his best friends, Chucky, George, June, Eggie, Rich, Matt, Mikey, and Joey—brothers in spirit, loyal to one another like family, and known for bringing light and laughter wherever they went. If you were fortunate to have Anthony in your life, your days were brighter, your heart fuller, and your world forever touched by his love and friendship.
Though Tony had many beloved aunts and uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, and scores of cousins, not mentioning each by name does not diminish the closeness and bond they shared with him. His life was deeply intertwined with family, and his love for them knew no bounds.
Tony closed his eyes in rest on May 20, 2025, but his light will never dim. May his memory be a source of comfort, his life a testament to love, and his legacy a reminder of the impact one person can have on so many.
