It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, memere, aunt, and friend, Annette Theresa (Levreault) Masaitis, 90, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Portland Care and Rehabilitation in Portland, CT. A life-long resident of both Chicopee and Holyoke, she was born in Chicopee on February 8, 1934, to Hector and Lillian (Farley) Levreault and was a 1951 graduate of Chicopee High School. Annette was a devoted homemaker and housewife, member of the former St. Mary’s Church in Chicopee, and a waitress at the K of C 4044 in Chicopee. Annette was a beautiful woman, inside and out, who had a passion for creating beauty around her. Through the years she channeled her creativity through her works of art, many sewing projects, gardening, and culinary skills. At the heart of her soul was her desire to care for others, both family and friends. Even when she could no longer care for herself, she would reach out to connect with others with a touch of her hand, or with words of encouragement and compassion. She understood the power of the human touch and those that knew her connected with her kindness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Benedict Masaitis in 2000, and by her daughter, Jayna A. Shute in 2015 and by her sister, Estelle Peloquin in 1988. Annette’s memory is celebrated by her children, Lori Donicz and her husband, Christopher of Portland, CT, and Gary A. Masaitis and his wife Kathy of Easthampton; son-in-law, Brian Shute of Easthampton, eight grandchildren; Corey, Jennifer, Amanda, Michael Lindsey, Christina, Jason, and Ashlie, and eight great grandchildren; Sarah, Leah, Brady, Aubry, Brian, Ava, Damon, and Mira. A graveside service will be held on Monday April 7th at 11:30 a.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in Annette’s memory to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 East Mountain Road, Westfield, MA 01085. To leave an online expression of sympathy, please visit
