1924-2018
CHICOPEE- Anita M. (Gendron) Pronovost, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home. She was born in Chicopee on November 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Edward and Antoinette (Menard) Gendron. Anita was a graduate of Chicopee High School and a longtime parishioner of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where she was a member of the Ladies’ Sodality. She worked for a short time as a telephone operator at New England Tel & Tel, but she was most proud of her work as an assistant librarian for the city of Chicopee, primarily in the Willimansett and Aldenville branches. Anita loved reading, crocheting, traveling, and time spent with her family. She was predeceased in 1995 by her beloved husband, Roland Pronovost after 41 years of marriage. She will be missed by her sons; Mark Pronovost and his wife Deborah of South Hadley, Edward Pronovost and his wife Barbara of Chicopee, her grandchildren: Erin Pronovost, Sheila Pronovost and her fiancé Sam Lemanski, Caroline Pronovost, Gregory Pronovost and his partner Ashley and their son Seamus. Anita also leaves a sister, Geraldine Fournier of Mumford, TN, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5-7PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. The funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9:30AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, MA. Memorial donations in Anita’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
