Springfield, MA – Amalia Lopez, 89, of Springfield, MA passed away Wednesday January 29, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA. She was born May 7, 1935, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Faustino Vega and Dolores Caraballo.
Amalia was employed for many years as a Hotel Housekeeper, a job in which she took great pride. She enjoyed playing bingo, dominos, crocheting and was known as the scratch ticket queen.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Lopez and by her siblings, Paula, Minga and Heriberto.
She is survived by her seven children, Lillian Villaran, Lydia Rivera, Linda Villaran, Antonio “Tony” Villaran, Geraldo “Gerry” Villaran, Andre Perez and George Perez; by her 33 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday February 5th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA. Amalia’s funeral service will be Thursday February 6th at 10:00 AM at the Brunelle Funeral Home followed by committal services in Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee, MA.
