CHICOPEE – Alice R. (Genereux) Lefebvre was taken home on August 23, 2008 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 19, 1918, a beloved daughter of the late William and Aline (Jodoin) Genereux. She attended schools in Holyoke and lived most of her life in Chicopee before moving to Westfield and then Agawam. She will be remembered by her family for her great talents in sewing and crocheting. She was employed as a seamstress at Totsie Mfg. and Carter’s. She will be especially remembered for her wonderful and heart warming afghans and dolls made for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald M. Lefebvre in 1965. She leaves her six children, Raymond Bergeron, Norman Lefebvre and his wife Barbara, Donald Lefebvre and his wife France, Francis Lefebvre, Denise Mahar and Eugene Lefebvre and his wife Katherine. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Irene Gagnon, a sister-in-law Alberta “Micki” Genereux and a brother-in-law Armand Rodier. She was predeceased by four sisters, Yvonne Phaneuf, Eva Rodier, Lena Lacroix and Cecile Dugre and four brothers, Wilfred, Arthur, Alfred and George Genereux. A funeral procession will form on Wednesday, August 27, at 8:45 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Church, 30 College St, Chicopee. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman St, South Hadley. Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. William Freedberg and the staff of Springfield 3 at Baystate Medical Center, for their compassionate care of Alice and her family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Alice’s memory, to charity of one’s choice.
