William D. Meadows Sr.

William D. Meadows Sr. 1920 � 2009 CHICOPEE - William D. �Dan� Meadows Sr., 88, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Pollocksville, N.C. on August 22, 1920 to the late Marion B. and Minnie J. (Riggs) Meadows. Mr. Meadows attended schools in North Carolina. He proudly served our country, in the United States Army, as a member of the 871st Airborne Engineers, during WWII. While in the military, William earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. William was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Mr. Meadows leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty � three years, Stasia K. (Dec) of Chicopee; his three sons, William D. Meadows Jr. of Springfield, Allen Meadows and his wife Debra of Longmeadow and Daniel Meadows of West Springfield; his two daughters, Catherine Meadows of CA and Susan Meadows of Springfield; his two brothers, Clifford Meadows of N.C. and Wade Meadows of VA; his sister, Dorothy Barwick of N.C. and his five grandchildren, Jamie Meadows and his wife Linda, Jodi Watson, Jessica Ligus, Justin Ligus and Amanda Jane�Meadows. William was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. All services and burial were private.
