Tiburcio Silva Ortiz

August 12, 1917 - May 26, 2011

HOLYOKE- �Tibo� Silva Ortiz, 93, entered eternal rest and peace on Thursday, May 26, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on August 12, 1917 a son of the late Petronilas and Nicodemo (Ortiz) Silva. Tibo came to the United States in 1969 in search of a better life and made Holyoke and Chicopee his home with his beloved wife, Josefa (Soto) Silva who passed away on April 11, 2009 after 64 years of marriage. Tibo worked for many years at Fowler Farms in Westfield and was an avid home gardener. He enjoyed wrestling and horseracing but most importantly was a quiet, faithful family man. He leaves behind six sons, Jesus of Puerto Rico; Reinaldo Sr. of Feeding Hills; Luis Sr. of Chicopee; Nelson of Puerto Rico; Felipe of Springfield; Alvin of Holyoke; three daughters, Myriam of West Springfield; Milta of Springfield and Minerva of Puerto Rico. Tibo will be deeply missed by his 24 grandchildren and his 40 great grandchildren as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by 2 brothers and four sisters. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 6-9 PM at Iglesia Christiana Pentecostal Church, 96 Cabot St., Holyoke, MA 01040. The funeral service will begin at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the church followed by the burial in Forestdale Cemetery.
