Ronald R. Poirier Sr. 1944 � 2009CHICOPEE � Ronald R. Poirier, Sr., 65, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on November 29, 1944 to the late Raymond J. and Yvette (Vigneux) Poirier. Ron attended schools in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1963. He continued his education at Cape Cod Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Food Management in 1976. Mr. Poirier worked as a chef for a number of different Holiday Inns in the Boston area where he was awarded Food and Beverage Manager of the Year. He also worked as a chef for East Point Nursing Home in Chelsea, MA for a short time. Ron truly loved to cook for people and volunteered his time at a number of different food kitchens in the Boston area. After moving back to the Chicopee area, Ron became a member of the Grace Episcopal Church where he served as Jr. Warden. Mr. Poirier leaves to cherish his memory, his fianc�, Cheryl A. Adamson of Chicopee; his two sons, Andrew F. Poirier of France and Ronald R. Poirier Jr. of Panama City Beach, Fl; his daughter, Sherri A. Dillard and her husband Noah of Youngstown, Fl; his sister, Carol A. Poirier of Coxsackie, N.Y. and his three grandchildren, Forrest and Hunter Dillard and Kiley Poirier. There will be a calling hour on Thursday, December 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Service of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 156 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA, 01013. Burial will follow the Service in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Memorial contributions may be made in Ron�s memory, to the Covenant House, Times Square Station, and P.O. Box 731, New York, N.Y. 10108-0900.
