    Philip Bergeron

    November 3, 1919 - April 5, 2013

    CHICOPEE- Philip Lionel Bergeron, 93, of Chicopee entered eternal rest and peace on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Wingate at South Hadley. Philip was born on November 3, 1919 a son of Joseph and Philomena (Goulet) Bergeron and was a graduate of Chicopee High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served honorably during WWII aboard the Blimp Hedron and NTC Sampson. He was predeceased by his wife Clara O. (Lavernway) Bergeron in 1998. Philip was a lifelong carpenter and worked for Tromsa Construction Co. for over 25 years most recently as a layout carpenter foreman. He later worked for Holyoke Hospital for many years as a carpenter retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Tigers A.C. and the American Legion Post / Granby Road. Philip was a longtime communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church and enjoyed baseball and being surrounded by his large family including: 37 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He is survived by his 5 sons, Philip J. Bergeron of Chicopee; Albert of North Carolina; Richard of Florida; Joseph of Chicopee; Lionel of Westfield; his five daughters, Alice Bergeron of Chicopee; Lucille Hadley of South Hadley; Jeanne Laizer of Agawam; Cecile Gregoire of Chicopee; Doris Ryder of Chicopee; two step sons, Harold Burroughs of NY and Thomas Burroughs of NY. He was also predeceased by a step son Dalbert Burroughs and a step daughter, Mary Lewandowski. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be held graveside on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 1PM in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olson St., Chicopee, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Philip�s name can be made to Holyoke Hospice and VNA, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
