    Mark A. Hines

    November 18, 1959 - February 2, 2014

    CHICOPEE- Mark Alfred Hines, 54, beloved son, brother, father and husband, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born in Holyoke on November 18, 1959 a son of the late Dorothy (Ducharme) Hines and Robert H. Hines of Westfield. He was a 1977 graduate of Chicopee High School. He joined the US Navy in 1978 and served honorably until 1982 as a hospital corpsman on the USS Saipan and mess cook on the USS Glover. Mark was an accomplished percussionist, composer, musician, songwriter and drum teacher. He was a member of Life Point church in Chicopee for the last 20 years, working in children�s ministries, music and drama, and played as the principal drummer for the praise band for the last 15 years. He worked many years in side jobs, in the accounting and construction fields, and was an avid fisherman, Bruins fan and DIY expert, lovingly renovating his 100-year-old home in Aldenville. Mark is survived by his wife, Catherine (Huggins) Hines of Chicopee, two sons, Justin and Nathan, a daughter Renee, two step sons, Allen Powell and Mike Hines, two brothers, Dan Hines of Pittsfield, Dave Hines of FL and four adored grandchildren. He leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends and church family who will miss him dearly. Mark was predeceased by his brother Kevin Hines who now welcomes him home. Visiting hours will be Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 from 9-10:30AM at Life Point Church, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, MA 01020, followed by the funeral service at 11AM. The burial with military honors will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mark�s name may be made to Life Point Church Benevolence Fund, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, MA 01020, and online at www.ourlifepoint.org, and follow the �giving� link.
