Jeannette Cecile Russell

Jeannette C. Russell 1914-2009 CHICOPEE- Jeannette C. (Denis) Russell, 94, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Monday March 16, 2009 in Baystate Medical Center. Jeannette was born in Holyoke on November 4, 1914 a daughter of the late Wilfred and Rhea (Rivers) Denis. She attended Holyoke schools and graduated from Chicopee High School. Jeannette was employed for 23 years at Holyoke Hospital as a switchboard operator and a portion of that time was as the chief operator, she retired in 1984. She was a communicant of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Jeannette was a member of the choir and St. Anne�s Sodality. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jeannette was a dear friend to all, especially her grandchildren. She loved to bake for everyone. Jeannette is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George A. Russell; three devoted children, Peter D. Russell and his wife Susan of Epping, NH, Cynthia D. Desilets and her husband Normand of Chicopee, and Mary C. Russell of South Hadley; eight cherished grandchildren, Paul, Keith, Kim, Laurie, Lynne, Michelle, Jeffrey, and Andrew; and eight cherished great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 20th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 780 Chicopee St., both in Chicopee, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Lyman St, South Hadley. Jeannette�s family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Thursday, March 19th (THIS EVENING) from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jeannette�s memory to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 40 Michigan Ave. Northeast, Washington, DC 20017.
