GRANBY � J. Randy Montemagni, 57, of Granby, loving husband, cherished son, devoted father and �Poppy� died suddenly on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was a courageous 10 year survivor of cancer. Randy was born in Holyoke on March 27, 1954 a son of James A. and Mary (Ringuette) Montemagni of Chicopee who survive him. He was educated at St. Patrick�s Elementary School and was a 1972 graduate of Chicopee Comp. Randy was an accomplished Master Mechanic and was a transmission specialist for over 35 years. Randy worked for Mutual Ford for five years and most recently at Springfield Lincoln Mercury for over 30 years where he was a master at his trade. He was also his families �automobile surgeon� and could be counted on to help with mechanics or any other project that his family or friends were working on. Randy was an avid golfer, avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed listening to Click and Clack and was a talented musician on the bass guitar. Randy was a ranger at Chicopee C.C. and he loved traveling to the beach in New Hampshire and taking cruises with his family. Randy married, Janet (Nubile) on May 10th 1975 and the couple recently celebrated over 36 years of marriage. In addition to his parents and his wife, Randy is survived by: his 4 children; his son Angelo of Ludlow; his 3 daughters, Rachel and her fianc� Erik Piedra and Angel Montemagni all of Chicopee; and Gina Montemagni of Granby; his brother, Gary and his wife Mary of VT; 3 sisters, Donna and her husband James of CT; Darlene and her husband Stephen of Springfield; Angel and her husband Ted of CT; his six adored and cherished grandchildren, Hailea McMahon, Kylie Montemagni, Hunter James Piedra, Madison , Dakota and Zoey Piedra. Randy will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family members as well as his many colleagues and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01020. A Catholic prayer service and candle ceremony will be held on Friday at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Randy�s name can be made to a charity of one�s choice.
