Helen J. Nichols

SOUTH HADLEY � Helen Jewel (Dambkowski) Nichols, 94, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Wingate at South Hadley Nursing Home. She was born in Easthampton on April 3, 1916 to the late Julian and Julia (Bonczek) Dambkowski. Helen attended schools in Hatfield. She was a parishioner of the former St. Mary�s Church in Chicopee. Helen worked as a cook for the Chicopee Public School System for most of her life. She also worked at the former Mountain View Nightclub in Chicopee and the Marion Retreat House in Holyoke. Helen was a proud member of the Chicopee Senior Center Travel Club where she received numerous awards including a twenty year service award. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her former husband, Nick Nichols of Chicopee; her two sons, James Nichols and his wife Sandy of Chicopee and Robert Nichols and his wife Linda of Maine; her daughter, Jewel Anderson and her husband Jack of Holliston, MA; her six grandchildren and her eight great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Helen was predeceased by her two brothers, John and Joseph Dambkowski and her sister, Adele Dyba. There will be a Service of Remembrance on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. Chicopee. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. A calling hour will precede the Service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen�s memory, to Shriner�s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104-2396.
