Doris Demers

July 10, 1919 - January 3, 2015

CHICOPEE- Doris F. (Archambault) Demers, 95, passed away at Willimansett West Nursing Center on January 3, 2015. She was born on July 10, 1919, a daughter of the late Henry and Marie (Joyal) Archambault in Holyoke. Doris was a secretary for many years at Mount Holyoke College, retiring in 1985 as comptroller. She was a life-long resident of Willimansett. She enjoyed golf and played for many years. Doris was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and of the former Nativity Church. She also was a member of the Lady Sodality and Bingo Committee at Nativity. Doris was a dedicated caregiver to her mother and family. Her family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Willimansett West for their care given to Doris during her time there. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard Demers in 1971; a brother, Rene Archambault; and two sisters, Stella Morache, and Constance Tracy. Doris is survived by her nephew Rene Morache; a niece Ann Marie Grandmaison; and her friends and caretakers, Eileen and Roland Bombardier. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St, Chicopee, followed by burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee.
