Claire J. Niemiec 1944-2009CHICOPEE- Claire �Jeanne� (Mayer) Niemiec, 64, entered into eternal rest on Friday April 10, 2009, in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Holyoke on November 5, 1944, the daughter of Joseph R. Mayer and the late Claire D. (Moussette) Mayer. Claire was educated in Holyoke public schools and graduated from Holyoke High School. She retired in 2006 from Amherst College as a systems administrator after seven years of service, and had worked previously at Hampshire College for 18 years. Claire enjoyed traveling, especially to the Florida Keys. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Frank M. Niemiec of Chicopee; her father, Joseph R. Mayer of Chicopee; two sons, David A. and his wife Karen of Southwick and Keith M. and his wife Kellie of Chicopee; two cherished grandchildren, Joshua Niemiec and Nicole (Niemiec) Scott-Smith; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday April 14th at 11 a.m. in the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman St., South Hadley. Claire�s family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours prior to the service on Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Claire�s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
