CHICOPEE – Roger L. Pepin, 85, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born in Chicopee on September 7, 1922, to the late Herve and Mandona (Leveille) Pepin. He attended schools in Chicopee and was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Mr. Pepin served our country in the United States Army where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon – Battles Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp from 1940 – 1943. Roger worked as an acting line foreman for the Chicopee Light and Electric for thirty-four years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Pepin loved being outdoors, in particular, hunting and fishing. He was a fan of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed playing pitch and cribbage. Mr. Pepin, leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty-six years, Theresa (Kusek) Pepin of Chicopee; his four sons, Gary and his wife Karen of Chicopee, James and his wife Linda of CA, Alan and his wife Anna of Ludlow and Greg and his wife Heidi of CA; his daughter Karen Banas and her husband James of Chicopee; his brother Donald Pepin of Belchertown; his seven sisters, Rita Rivest of Belchertown, Jean Schauer of Granby, Annette Crevier of Chicopee, Diane Hupfer of Chicopee, Theresa Murray of Belchertown, Rose Thorsen of Agawam and Blanche Collins of Chicopee; his thirteen grandchildren, Erica, Kimberly, Christopher, Megan, Andrea, Michael, Richard, Michael, Samuel, River, Ryder, Nicole and Matthew; his seven great grandchildren, Nicolas, Daniel, Alexis, Zach, Haylee, Thomas and Heidi. Roger was pre-deceased by three brothers, Emil, Joseph and Raymond and two sisters, Cecile and Lucille. A funeral procession will form on Friday, June 27, at 9:45 A.M. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.
