After the BU School of Nursing closed, Professor Scipien taught at the University of Massachusetts Boston College of Nursing and Health Sciences until her retirement. Among her many professional honors were induction into the American Academy of Nursing and being named a Living Legend in Massachusetts Nursing in 2013 by Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses (now ANA Massachusetts). She was the Vice-President of the Nursing Archives Associates, Boston University. Although Ms. Scipien leaves no survivors, she leaves behind a godson, Benjamin Thiefels of San Diego, CA, her close friends Sarah B.
